The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco's more expensive alternatives. However, it has a lot of excellent features. It can be used either a side-sleeper or as a standalone crib that is suitable for babies from birth to six months. It comes with a new mechanism for opening and closing the side panel. It's easy to operate, even for one-handed operation. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor with 11 different height levels and feet that retract to installation under any bed.
Our testers appreciated the ease of use offered by the side panel that can be moved up and downwards with just one click of a switch. This was especially helpful during nighttime feedings as they could reach in and pick their baby up without disturbing them up.

It is possible to lower the side panel itself, but this isn't recommended, as it increases the risk that your child will be thrown out of the cot. But, the patented safety locking mechanism guarantees that it can only stay down when attached to the bed properly. This is a great feature to have for peace of mind, especially when you're breastfeeding and need frequent night feeds.

Our testers found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, however it does come with lengthy instructions. It's a bit heavier than some of the other side-sleepers, however it's quite portable and can be moved from room to room easily. It's also able to fold into a bag for travel which is ideal if you want to transport it. The only issue our testers have found is that the side panel didn't move as much as other models. This made it a little harder to see your baby from your bed.

The only issue was the lack of captions in writing on some of the pictures which made it difficult to understand some of the steps. However, it was an easy process and the quality of materials used was excellent.

It allows them to reach out and hold their baby to comfort them and feeding without having to leave their bed. It's also great for mothers who want to avoid the stress of getting into and out of a traditional cot, or putting their baby down for a nap.
During our tests, we found the gliding motion of the next-to-me crib to be particularly beneficial in lulling babies back to sleep after feedings at midday and in the evening. The drop-down side makes it easy to feed or soothe babies during the night. This was a major selling point for our tired test mums.
